After “300 Million Chances,” Stevie Nicks Has No Regrets for How She Left Things With Lindsey Buckingham

The seemingly never-ending dispute between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham has come to light in the music scene once again. Recently, Nicks sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about politics, her longevity, and about what everybody reportedly wanted to hear, the potential Fleetwood Mac reunion. The potential reunion comes from numerous factors, though, primarily the band’s creation of a TikTok and Instagram account earlier this month. However, those fan theories can be tossed away, as Nicks assured the band will not be getting back together.

That being so, the last major event of the feud between Nicks and Buckingham was back in 2018. The year marked Buckingham’s second and final stint with the band and was the moment that led to a lawsuit between the two that later ended in a settlement. Despite the long-lasting quarrel between the two, Nicks disclosed that she is rather pleased with the terms she and Buckingham ended on.

The Last Time Stevie Nicks Spoke to Buckingham

Nicks shared that the last time she saw her former lover and bandmate was at Christine McVie’s funeral in 2023. Before this instance, it is unclear as to when the last two had seen each other. Nevertheless, Nicks spoke with Buckingham, and seemingly no amends were fully made nor feelings changed.

She told Rolling Stone, “The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes” and “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

Despite their animosity, Nicks does wish him the best. “I hope he lives a long life and continues to go into a studio and work with other people” and “He’s also an icon, and he can teach people. He’s not stopped in his tracks. He can still make music and have fun,” Nicks said.

The Official End of Fleetwood Mac

Even though it might have seemed the band was going to reunite, Stevie Nicks confirmed what nobody wanted to hear. When asked about a Fleetwood Mac reunion, she merely replied, “No.” In retrospect, this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. As when McVie passed Nicks made it very clear that the band would not continue without her.

That being so and given Nicks’ convicted personality, all fans and critics should have just taken her word for it the first time. Following her simple answer, she stated, “We had lots and lots of time, and lots and lots of tours that could have been the reconciliation tour and ‘now we’re going to quit’ tour.” According to Nicks’ statement, the curtain has officially closed for good.
