Last Thursday, famed grunge and heavy metal outfit Alice In Chains had to abruptly cancel their set in Uncasville, Connecticut. According to the band, their longtime drummer Sean Kinney suffered a “non-life-threatening medical emergency” during soundcheck. The band announced that refunds would be issued, but they did not divulge more information about Kinney’s condition. Sadly, it’s not looking too good. Alice In Chains took to Instagram to formally announce that the rest of their spring tour would have to be canceled. The tour would have taken them across the United States to cities like Camden, New Jersey, and Nashville, Tennessee.

The “Man In The Box” hitmakers will also not be appearing at their scheduled festival dates this summer. Those, sadly, include Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Columbus and Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach.
Fans are obviously bummed out about the cancellation. But more than anything, fans are worried about the state of Kinney’s health and have been dishing out nothing but love.
“We love every member of Alice in Chains and no shows are worth losing one of you,” said one fan in the comments of the Instagram announcement. “Please, all take a big vacation and take care of Sean!!!”
“Get well Sean!” said another. “The stage will still be there when you’re better and so will the fans…”
Will Alice In Chains Scrap Their Black Sabbath Appearance Following the Tour Cancellation?
The band has not revealed what exactly happened to Kinney during soundcheck on Thursday, and the group was particularly vague in their announcement of the tour cancellation.
“While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment,” the announcement reads. “Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive.”
Sean Kinney has been the drummer for Alice In Chains off and on since 1987. The current lineup also includes Jerry Cantrell, William DuVall, and Mike Inez.
The band has not directly said that they have cancelled their appearance at the highly anticipated upcoming Black Sabbath finale concert on July 5 in Birmingham, England.
We wish Sean Kinney nothing but the best as he recovers. Hopefully, Alice In Chains will be able to reschedule their tour dates in the future.
