Suspect Planned Knife Attack at Oasis Reunion Tour
A 17-year Welsh boy has admitted to a criminal charge after authorities uncovered his plan to attack fans at the first Oasis reunion gig.
The boy, whose identity is concealed due to his age, allegedly looked to emulate last summer’s mass stabbing in Southport, England. Axel Rudakubana was also 17 when he killed three girls—ages 6, 7, and 9— at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. A note saved on his phone indicated the Oasis suspect also planned to target a dance school near his home in Cwmbran, South Wales.

A 17-year-old has been accused of planning an attack at the first Oasis reunion gig, as well as a nearby dance school. He reportedly praised Southport killer Axel Rudakubana. 😞

According to The Times, the teen researched how to obtain large knives, even sending an image of one to a friend asking, “Would this work?” He also praised Rudakubana during conversations with other teens on Snapchat, saying he wanted to participate in a similar attack. One of these people reported him to the police.

After his family raised alarms, the boy attended an appointment with a mental health professional, during he declared plans to commit a “Rudakubana-style attack.”
The teen admitted to a single charge of possessing a document useful for terrorism after authorities found a copy of the same 188-page document that the Southport killer possessed. He also told someone on Snapchat had tried to make ricin—the same poison that Rudakubana manufactured. However, the 17-year-old told police this was not true.
He appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court on June 21. The crown will determine his sentence at a later date.
