Backstreet Boys Brian Littrell’s Son Debuting on New Season of ‘American Idol’

While there are still a few weeks before American Idol returns for season 23, the show already gained attention when it came to Katy Perry leaving. Wanting to get back to her own career, Perry decided to vacate her seat, which led to the producers turning to Carrie Underwood. Unlike her fellow judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, Underwood not only competed on the show but won. Outside of the new changes to American Idol, it appeared that Brian Littrell’s son Baylee will be making his debut on the hit show.

Appearing to follow in his father’s footsteps, Baylee understood the stardom that surrounded Littrell. A member of the Backstreet Boys, Littrell contributed to the group selling over 130 million albums. Hoping to leave his own mark in the music industry, Baylee struggled with the pressure of stardom. According to Littrell, “He was just texting me last night, going, ‘Dad, dude, how do you do this? Like, it’s hard work. ’He’s been busting his butt, and I’m super proud of him. He kind of gets a new sense of reality of what this is.”

Sharing the news last week, Baylee posted a picture of the American Idol sign, writing, “Well guys, recently I had the opportunity to audition for @americanidol. Tune in to see the season premiere and what happens on 3/9/25!”

Baylee Thankful For His Father’s Help As He Prepared For ‘American Idol’

Always supporting his son, who he shared with his wife Leighanne Littrell, Littrell jumped to the comment section to shower him with praise. “Bubba I can’t wait!!!!! Good Luck we’re all counting on you hahaha.”

Back in 2018, Baylee broke into music when he released his debut single “Don’t Knock It.” While trying to find his own way, Baylee admitted that his father was there each step of the way. “My dad has always been my champion, so he’s always told me to just do what I want to do and follow my dreams, and to do my best and not overthink it. It’s really just taken so much pressure off.”

Don’t miss the new season of American Idol, airing March 9th on ABC and available to stream the following day on Hulu.
