While the bassist, keyboardist, and co-lead vocalist for the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson also knew the process of writing a great song. Throughout his time with the group, he helped write hit songs like “Surf City”, “I Get Around”, and “Good Vibrations.” Inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Wilson sadly passed away on June 11th at 82 years old. With his legacy in the music industry spanning generations, dozens of tributes poured in, remembering the legendary songwriter. Recently, another member of the Beach Boys, Al Jardine offered a touching statement on his late friend.

Although members of the same band, both Jardine and Wilson shared a friendship off the stage. Releasing a statement, Jardine wrote, “Brian Wilson, my friend, my classmate, my football teammate, my Beach Boy bandmate and my brother in spirit, I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were. I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again.”
Giving just a taste of the impact Wilson had on him, Jardine continued, “You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever. Brian, I’ll really miss you… still I have the warmth of the sun within me tonight.”
Tributes Continue To Pour In For Brian Wilson
Other tributes included his daughter, Carnie, who followed in her father’s footsteps as a member of the band Wilson Phillips. She posted a picture of them together, writing, “I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now. My Father @brianwilsonlive was every fiber of my body. He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always.”
Struggling to grasp the loss of her father, Carnie added, “I’ve never felt this kind of pain before, but I know he’s resting up there in heaven … or maybe playing the piano for Grandma Audree his Mom. I will post something else soon but this is all my hands will let me type. I love you Daddy….I miss you so much already.”
While Wilson’s family has yet to release details surrounding his death, fellow musicians and singers focused on his songwriter’s life and impact on the music industry.
