Black Sabbath Farewell Concert Adds Steven Tyler, Members of Soundgarden to Lineup

Everyone’s been talking about the upcoming Black Sabbath finale, set for July 5 in Birmingham, England at Villa Park. Fans have even more to buzz about now: Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and several members of Soundgarden have also made the lineup for the Back To The Beginning Concert.

This is a particularly big deal for Soundgarden fans. The iconic grunge band disbanded in 2017, following the sudden and tragic death of their frontman, Chris Cornell. The band has only performed with all remaining members once back in 2019, under a different name, for a charity show.

Now, in the wake of the band’s recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it looks like the remaining members of Soundgarden will be performing together for the first time in years as part of Black Sabbath’s lineup for the legendary rock band’s final live concert.

The upcoming concert already features a real laundry list of classic rock greats, including Metallica, Pantera, Tool, Guns N’ Roses, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Gojira, and quite a few more.

Will Ozzy Osbourne Perform at the Upcoming Final Black Sabbath Concert?

The announcement of Steven Tyler and Soundgarden’s involvement came straight from Sharon Osbourne in a recent interview with The Guardian. In that same interview, Ozzy Osbourne discussed the upcoming concert as well.

There has been some speculation that Osbourne will be unable to perform due to health concerns, though Osbourne has dismissed those doubts over the last few days. In the recent interview with The Guardian, Osbourne was realistic about what fans can expect from Black Sabbath’s grand finale concert.

“We’re only playing a couple of songs each,” said Osbourne. “I don’t want people thinking, ‘We’re getting ripped off’, because it’s just going to be… what’s the word? A sample, you’re going to get a few songs each by Ozzy and Sabbath.”

For reference, Ozzy Osbourne has been struggling with Parkinson’s disease as well as the effects of multiple surgeries he has had to undergo following a quad bike accident in 2003. A documentary called No Escape From Now, which will go live on Paramount+ this autumn, will chronicle Osbourne’s health difficulties.

The upcoming July 5 concert will be Osbourne’s final live concert.
