With Coach John Legend in his corner, Battle decided to perform Mariah Carey’s “Without You” in an effort to stay alive in the competition.

The audience was certainly impressed by Battle’s showing, and all four coaches were on their feet as he sang.

“That was stunning,” Legend said. “It was so beautiful.”

Viewers will have to wait until May 13 to see if Battle’s performance was enough to get him through to next week’s Finals.

After a one hour recap episode at 8/7c, host Carson Daly will reveal the contestants that made it to the last stage of the competition during the Live Semi-Final Results episode at 9/8c.

Bryson Battle on His The Voice Journey Thus Far

Back in March, Battle spoke to The Independent Tribune about his journey on The Voice.

“Honestly, it’s been super-duper surreal just because this has been something I have been waiting for, for so long,” he told the outlet. “To finally have it out there and to see the response of people… has been super wonderful and amazing.”

As for why he opted for Legend as his coach, Battle explained, “I think having someone who has such a keen and crisp ear, anytime we’ve worked together, it’s just been super-duper constructive feedback, which I really respond well to.”
