Former Frontman Accuses Rock Band of Owing Him $5 Million: “For Almost a Decade, I Stayed Silent”

Denis Stoff is leveling a serious claim at his former band. The singer, who once fronted English rock band Asking Alexandria, alleged on Instagram that the group owes his $5 million.

Stoff’s Instagram post came as the band was drawing backlash for their Warped Tour performance.

Presumably, Stoff saw the negative chatter about the band and its current vocalist, Danny Worsnop. Many were so disappointed by the showing that they took to social media to ask Stoff if he’d ever rejoin the group.

While Stoff said he agreed with the criticisms—and even said that Worsnop is “clearly incapable of giving a good performance”—he made it clear that his time with the band is done.

Why Denis Stoff Won’t Return to Asking Alexandria

“I would never return to a band that has still NEVER presented a single royalty statement for The Black album and has failed to pay out an estimated $5,000,000 of my profit share, as stipulated in the contracts I signed with them at the time,” Stoff claimed of the band’s 2016 album. “This includes revenue from song authorship, sales, streams, deals, show tickets, performance guarantees, and worldwide merchandise sales.”

Stoff alleged that his “countless email requests” about the situation have all “been ignored for nearly nine years.”

“For almost a decade, I stayed silent and ignored all of the witty comments that were meant to cover up my departure from AA back in 2016, sweep my money under the rug, and help the band move forward without any public drama,” he said. “But now, considering everything that has happened over time, I simply can’t help but share the truth with you.”

Asking Alexandria has yet to speak out about Stoff’s claims.

Asking Alexandria released their debut album, Stand Up and Scream, in 2009. At the time, guitarist Ben Bruce, bassist Sam Bettley, drummer James Cassells, guitarist Cameron Liddell, and vocalist Worsnop made up the group. Two more albums followed before Worsnop departed the group.

Stoff proceeded to step in as the band’s vocalist, replacing Worsnop on The Black album in 2016. After that LP, however, Worsnop returned to the group. They’ve since released four more albums. Bruce departed the band in 2024, and they haven’t released an album since.
