Heartbreak Hits Hard in Riley Green’s “She Wrecked Me” Sneak Peek

While loving the chance to work with singers like Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, and Justin Moore, Riley Green also expanded his solo career with “There Was This Girl.” And just last year, he released his third studio album with Don’t Mind If I Do. If that wasn’t enough, he also won single of the year thanks to his duet with Ella Langley on “You Look Like You Love Me.” Continuing to push his career forward, the country star recently teased a new song that had Green diving into the sting of heartbreak.

Posting a sneak peek of his new song called “She Wrecked Me” on Instagram, the lyrics surround the narrator looking back at some pivotal moments in his life. Although the narrator found himself with an injury that ended his football career, the lyrics proved that when one door closes, another one opens. “When I took that curb too fast/That busted knee/On a quarterback sweep/When I heard my future crack/But those brown eyes/Category five, blew right down Division Street/And brother, she wrecked me…”

The Connection Between “She Wrecked Me” And Riley Green

With Green staying somewhat quiet when it came to dating, the lyrics from “She Wrecked Me” appeared to echo some key moments in the singer’s life. Before becoming a country singer, he attended Jacksonville State University. And during his time at college, he played as a Division I FCS quarterback.

While it may just be speculation, fans cared little about the origin of the song as they showered Green with praise. Climbing over 59,000 likes, comments read, “Love waking up in a morning to find gems like this at the top of my feed.” Another person continued, “Oh, look! It’s my favorite person in the world, shining like the star that he is.”

Besides loving what he produced, a few fans believed the “brown-eyed girl” could be them. “Every time you say brown eyes, you give me hope.” And for those girls without brown eyes – “Even tho. I have blue eyes.. lol I can not wait for this song to come out.”

Whether drawn from real life or not, Green’s latest proves once again – he knows how to turn heartbreak into a hit song.
