Kenny Chesney Is Excited for His Las Vegas Residency
Kenny Chesney started the conversation about his upcoming Sphere residency by saying how excited he was to play at the new venue. “I’ve never done a residency in Vegas. We’ve always been too busy,” he said. “This is such a unique, different thing for me, my band, my crew, our road family, and the audience that we’ve built over the years,” he added.
“I just feel like it’s such an immersive thing. A shared moment,” he said of playing the Sphere. “I haven’t seen a show yet. I haven’t seen U2, I haven’t seen the Eagles. I signed up without seeing a show but I went there and they showed me a little bit of what was possible and it’s like … the band and the audience are on a completely different state of consciousness,” he explained. “I looked at my crew and my team and said, ‘There’s no way we’re not doing this.’”
“It’s a lot to put together,” he said of the shows at Sphere. Chesney and his team are already rehearsing for the residency. “Once we’re there, we’re going to have a lot of fun but getting there is a lot of work. But that’s great,” he said.
Fallon then asked Chesney about the “vibe” of one of his concerts. “I feel like our show is full of positive energy and love,” he replied. “You’re not going to be told what to think at our show. We don’t preach to you. We’re not going to tell you who to vote for. We’re just going to open up our hearts and open up our arms and say, ‘Come on in.’”
