Lopez started her time on stage with her 2012 song, “Dance Again.” She then had a minutes-long dance break, which was set to some of the biggest songs of the year.
The AMAs previously teased Lopez’s performance, promising viewers it would “be an exciting highlight of the evening” that would “showcase her unparalleled artistry and signature mix of music, dance, and visual spectacle.”
It certainly lived up to the hype, as Lopez displayed her dance and vocal skills in a can’t miss performance.
Lopez is no stranger to the AMAs stage. She previously hosted the show in 2015 and has performed at the ceremony more than 10 times.
It’s no secret why Lopez was asked to both host and perform at the show. She has sold over 80 million records worldwide, achieved 15 billion global streams, and had more than 18 billion music video views. Lopez is also a three-time AMA winner, as well as a producer, fashion icon, philanthropist, and entrepreneur.
The 2025 American Music Awards
Lopez’s performance is just the tip of the iceberg for the 2025 AMAs. Also scheduled to perform are Icon Award recipient Janet Jackson and Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Rod Stewart.
In addition to the night’s host and special award recipients, Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, and Reneé Rapp will also take the stage.
As for the awards portion of the evening, Kendrick Lamar leads the nominees with 10 nods. Post Malone is close behind with eight nominations. Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each earned seven nods a piece.
The 2025 American Music Awards will air live coast to coast on Monday, May 26 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT on the CBS Television Network, and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
