Making a name for herself under the “emo cowgirl” brand, Megan Moroney knows her way around a tearjerker. Her latest album, last year’s Am I Okay?, spawned its fair share of heartbreakers, including the devastating 9/11-inspired “Heaven By Noon.” And apparently Moroney, 27, has more where that came from. The CMA’s reigning New Artist of the Year recently revealed that an unreleased fan-favorite is coming to the airwaves this year.
Megan Moroney Confirms This Song Will Appear on Her Next Album
When Megan Moroney sat down with radio host Elaina Smith to discuss her as-yet-untitled third album, fans got a surprise thanks to a misheard question. When Smith asked Moroney about the status of MM3, the “Tennessee Orange” songstress heard, “What’s the saddest song on MM3?”

“The saddest is a song called ‘Wedding Dress,’ that I’ve teased on TikTok. Yep, that one is making the album,” Moroney revealed. “I don’t even…this is the first time I’m saying that out loud. I didn’t get approval to do that, but it’s literally fine.”
Explaining the unreleased track’s premise, Moroney said, “I’m okay with missing him now, but please don’t let me miss him in a wedding dress. That’s about as sad as it gets.”
The Georgia native initially teased the song in 2022 ahead of her debut album, Lucky. And Moroney’s accidental revelation sparked an enthused frenzy from her fanbase on social media. “i’ve been waiting for wedding dress since forever i can’t believe it’s actually coming out,” one Instagram user wrote.
Hilariously, many Megan Moroney fans are already prepping the tissues. “The night she releases that it will be the end of me,” wrote another fan on TikTok.

‘MM3’ Is A “Lot Happier” Album
Don’t expect all mascara-streaked tears on her next project, however. Megan Moroney has previously stated that she either writes “bad b—- country songs or emo cowgirl songs.” And judging from her conversation with Smith, Moroney’s third studio album will contain much more of the former.
“I will say, on average, assuming that I don’t write a bunch of sad songs in the next however many months that I have some time to do it, it’s a lot happier this next album,” she said. “Vibing. We’re just vibing out, I would say. Just in a happy place, I think.”
