Just a few weeks ago, Morgan Wallen teamed up with Mikey Madison to helm a new episode of Saturday Night Live. Following the same formula as any other week, the show appeared to be a success. At least, until the end. There to promote his upcoming album, I’m the Problem, Wallen stood on stage to close out the show with Madison. And when saying their final goodbyes, the country singer quickly left the stage before the cameras cut. That single moment took over headlines the following week. With theories and rumors circulating, Wallen’s tour manager, Jeff Gossett, decided to clear the air about what really happened.

As the video of exit made its rounds on social media, many fans discussed what might have caused the singer to leave the show early. It didn’t help that Wallen posted a picture of a private plane with the caption “Get me to God’s Country.” He even started selling merchandise with the caption on it. But according to Gossett, “It’s probably been made a bigger deal than it should have been, but it hasn’t hurt him.”
Morgan Wallen walked off the SNL stage before the credits ended, then posted ‘Get me to God’s country’ on his IG shortly after.

Appearing on The JR the Handler Show, the tour manager broke down the SNL schedule for the week and just how long Wallen spent in the Big Apple. “I flew in Wednesday, Thursday we rehearsed, Friday we had a day off, Saturday was the show. And that show doesn’t start until 11:00 at night.” He continued, “New York City’s a great city… but it’s just not what, I think, we’re used to. And so I think without getting into any detail on that, it was a great experience, Saturday Night Live is a wonderful show. I think we all probably just wanted to come home.”

Morgan Wallen Didn’t Just Leave ‘Saturday Night Live’
As for Wallen’s controversial exit on SNL, Gossett insisted he didn’t immediately leave the building. “It wasn’t like there was an immediate exit. Back to the dressing room, changed some clothes, signed some photos for SNL, the stuff you have to sign at these events, it wasn’t like whisked right out of there and into a vehicle. I mean, we were probably there another half hour before we left.”
While knowing how the internet can create drama around even the tiniest of events, Gossett promised, “It was a great night, and he went home and got back to the grind, as we all did.”
Staying focused on his career and music at the moment, don’t miss Wallen’s newest album, I’m The Problem, released on May 16th.
