Paul McCartney Shares Insight Into New Book ‘Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run’

While only active for a decade, The Beatles wasted no time becoming one of the most influential bands in the music industry. Releasing hit after hit, the band was at the forefront of the British Invasion in the United States. As for John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney, they became icons as their fan base grew to such a size that it was deemed “Beatlemania.” Although still exploring a solo career, McCartney recently offered fans a taste of his new book following his time with the band Wings.

With fans already knowing the history of The Beatles, McCartney’s new book, Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run,  took readers on a trip back to the 1970s. Recalling stories of writing hits like “Live and Let Die’ and “Band On The Run”, McCartney also shed light on how the group was mugged in Nigeria and what exactly happened after The Beatles disbanded.

Besides coming packed with stories from McCartney and other figures, the book will feature over 100 photographs that many have yet to see of the historic group. Speaking about the new book, McCartney explained, “I’m so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book.”

Paul McCartney Releasing New Book And Maybe New Album

While finding success with Wings, McCartney noted how the stardom of The Beatles always stayed present in his mind. “Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, ‘OK this is really good.’ We proved Wings could be a really good band.”

Expected to hit shelves on November 4th, McCartney also worked on a new solo album he hoped to release in 2025. Releasing his last solo album in 2020 with McCartney III, the singer insisted, “I’ve been working on a lot of songs, and have had to put it to the side because of the tour. So, I’m hoping to get back into that and finish up a lot of these songs. So, how’s about that? ‘My New Year’s resolution is to finish a new album!’”

Still performing and recording, McCartney’s legacy went far beyond his time with The Beatles and Wings, making him one of the wealthiest musicians in the world.
