Throughout his career in the spotlight, Phil Collins not only produced a promising career as a member of Genesis but also as a solo artist. A few of his iconic songs included “In the Air Tonight” and “Another Day in Paradise.” He was also one of three artists who sold over 100 million albums as both a solo artist and a member of a band. With Collins still sharing his love for music, rumors started to circulate that the musician was placed in hospice care. But according to a representative, those rumors were false.

At 73 years old, Collins has struggled with a few health concerns over the recent years. And with Collins recently admitted to the hospital, some suggested the musician was nearing the end of his life. Causing concerns among fans, a representative decided to set the record straight, telling TMZ that Collins went to the hospital for a knee surgery.

Phil Collins Struggled To Hold Drumsticks
Although false, the rumors surrounding Collins come after the musician opened up about his health problems over the years. Back in 2007, he suffered a serious spinal injury. And just a few years later, he needed a cane to walk as standing for long periods of time became difficult.
Just last year, Collins completely opened his life to fans when the documentary Phil Collins: Drummer First released in December. At the time, he insisted, “I’ve spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock. If I can’t do what I did as well as I did it, I’d rather relax and not do anything. If I wake up one day and I can hold a pair of drumsticks, then I’ll have a crack at it. But I just feel like I’ve used up my air miles.”
Still sharing his love for music, Collins hasn’t released a new solo album in nearly two decades. His last, Going Back, hit shelves in 2010. Back in 2022, he officially retired from Genesis with one last concert in London. Joining forces with Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, Collins thanked the fans for their continued support and declared, “After tonight, we’ve all got to get real jobs.”
