With American Idol nearing the finals of season 23, the show wanted to highlight those who impacted the music industry over the years. And on April 27th, the show will announce the inductees for the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class. Having already revealed the list of nominees that included Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Mariah Carey, Outkast, and several others, the Rock Hall offered fans a chance to vote for their favorite artist or group. When tallying up the final numbers, it seemed that the hit band Phish took the top spot with Oasis nearly coming in last.

Releasing their latest album, Evolve, just last year, fans of Phish didn’t disappoint when showing their love for the band. Having performed on stage since the 1980s, the band continued to entertain fans all over the world. A pillar in the music industry, Phish walked away with 330,000 votes. Looking at the group that came in second was Bad Company with only 281,000. Dominating the leaderboard with nearly 50,000 votes, Phish seemed like a clear favorite for the 2025 class.
Moving down the list, Idol and Lauper took the third and fourth spot with both gaining a little over 230,000 votes. As for Oasis, the band announced they were reforming for the Oasis Live ‘25 tour. While fans rushed to get tickets to the tour, the band struggled with the Rock Hall as they were 500 votes from breaking 100,000. That’s right, with Phish bringing in more than 200,000 more votes, the only band Oasis beat was Mana, which received only 34,500 votes.

While not coming in first, don’t feel bad for Oasis as frontman Liam Gallagher often criticized the Rock Hall. Finding himself alongside Carey, Gallagher told the Sunday Times, “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favour and f*** off. It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don’t want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed. Besides, I’ve done more for rock n’ roll than half of them clowns on that board.”
Gallagher didn’t stop there as he suggested the whole process was a “load of bollox.” He even urged fans not to vote. And when glancing at the board, it seemed fans took the advice from Gallagher.
