Police Arrest Oasis Fans Trying To Jump Fence at Manchester Concert

Oasis is officially back, and everyone is excited. The Britpop band abruptly disbanded in 2009 following years of in-fighting between brothers Noel (lead guitar) and Liam Gallagher (lead vocals.) Despite years of swearing a reunion was merely fantasy, the brothers officially reunited under the Oasis banner on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. And amid all the excitement, several people found themselves in handcuffs after the group’s July 11 hometown show at Heaton Park in Manchester, England.

Roughly 50 Fans Rushed the Entrance at Oasis Hometown Concert

With Oasis taking the stage in their hometown of Manchester, England, for the first time in 16 years, emotions were understandably running high at the band’s July 11 Heaton Park gig. So much so that reportedly 50 ticketless people attempted to rush the entrance ahead of the show.

“They said around 10 appeared to get in but the rest were apprehended and turned away,” said Manchester Evening News reporter Chris Slater.

According to the Evening News, one industrious fan was even spotted carrying a ladder. (I mean, to be fair, that Ticketmaster queue was brutal.)

As a result, Greater Manchester Police established a dispersal order around Heaton Park and the surrounding areas Friday, July 11.  The order allows constables and police community support officers to disperse crowds and prevent nuisance.

Additionally, Greater Manchester Police arrested six individuals for offenses including fraud, intent to sell cannabis and drunk and disorderly conduct.

Oasis kicked off the first of five homecoming shows in Manchester, England, on July 11. The brothers returned home for the first time in 2009, with 80,000 screaming witnesses.

“This is the f— place! This is it!” Noel declared, walking out arm in arm with his younger brother.

“Oasis vibes in the area!” Liam shouted. “Manchester vibes in the area!”

We get the feeling Liam, at least, would certainly approve of these fans’ enthusiasm.

So What’s Next?

Ahead of Oasis’ highly-anticipated reunion, Liam Gallagher called the moment “spiritual.”

“But I can’t help think about all those wasted years what a waste of PRECIOUS time,” said the “Champagne Supernova” singer, 52, on X/Twitter.

Asked if he could think of anything better than getting the band back together, Liam replied, “Yeah staying together.”

Here’s hoping.
