Back in 1986, Randy Travis notched his first No. 1 hit with “On the Other Hand.” Over the next four decades, 15 more chart-toppers would follow, along with six CMA trophies and seven Grammy Awards. In 2017, Madame Tussauds Nashville honored the “Three Wooden Crosses” crooner with his very own life-sized wax figure. Four years later, those visiting the iconic attraction’s Nashville location were in for a shock when Travis posed as his waxy likeness.

Randy Travis Plays an Epic Joke on Fans
In 2021, unsuspecting country music fans visiting Madame Tussauds paused for photos with what they thought was a hyper-realistic wax rendering of Randy Travis. Imagine one couple’s shock at hearing the country icon let out a throaty “Amen” as the camera flash went off.
With each gasp of recognition, Travis flashes a grin a mile wide. He even arrived sporting a matching vest and his guitar to really sell it.
“That would be one of the most amazing moments of my life!” one Instagram user commented. Another added, “Look! If that was me I be bawling, screaming, laughing, crying…. Etc! What a dream!”
Not to be outdone, one fan wrote that they would “have screamed… then swooned, right into a puddled mass on the floor.”
Clearly, Randy Travis fans take their king seriously.
Madame Tussauds opened its Nashville location back in 2017. Carrie Underwood and Darius Rucker are among the other country stars who have been immortalized in wax.
Mary Travis Credits AI Song For Her Husband’s “Whole New Energy”
More than a decade ago, Randy Travis nearly lost both his career and his life after suffering a debilitating stroke. Last year, he returned to the charts thanks to the use of artificial intelligence.
“Where That Came From” was made possible using software to recreate the country star’s voice, then merging it with a 2011 recording of the song. Last week, the annual Grammys on the Hill event, which links the music industry with Congress to advocate for artists’ rights, bestowed the “On the Other Hand” singer, 65, with the 2025 Creators Leadership Award.
Speaking on her husband’s behalf, Mary Travis said, “It’s so important for him to give back to music what music gave to him. I wanted so bad to hear his voice again and when we had the opportunity, not only did I want to do it selfishly, but to see him at the soundboard working elbow to elbow with his producer, there was a whole new energy out of Randy.”
