At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle (nee Smith, Kerr), while Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle,” the statement read. “No family member is available for media interviews or comments. We kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period. We will provide updates as appropriate. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement concluded.
News of the tragic murder broke just days after Kerr released his first single of the year. He released “Cold Beer Cold,” penned by Dustin Lynch and Jimmy Robbins, last Friday (February 7).
More About the Tragic and Violent Deaths of Callum Kerr’s Parents
According to The Scottish Sun, officials originally believed the couple had lost their lives in a burglary gone wrong. However, further investigation has revealed that their “deaths were clearly a homicide.” In a more troubling development, authorities believe the Searles may have been targeted by hitmen.
Before retiring and moving to France, Mr. Searle was a financial investigator in the United Kingdom. A major function of his position was tracking down money laundering operations for some of the country’s most high-profile criminals. As a result, authorities fear that a crime boss who ran afoul of his investigations in the past hired the hitmen to assassinate the couple.
“A criminal inquiry has been launched and the fear is that the couple were murdered,” A French investigating source told The Sun. “It may well be that gangsters with a score to settle are behind these killings,” they added.
“Both died a violent death—all leads are being examined,” said Nicolas Rigot-Muller, the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.
Forensic experts began the couples’ autopsies on Thursday. The results of those autopsies are expected to be made public today (February 10).
