The Killers Kick Off ‘Hot Fuss’ Las Vegas Residency, Debut New Song “Bright Lights”

With Hot Fuss turning 20 this year, The Killers are partaking in a special hometown residency to celebrate. They took to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas recently to kick off the run of anniversary shows, as well as debut their newest single, “Bright Lights.”

The residency is a 10-night extravaganza celebrating the Hot Fuss milestone. The band played the album in full, which includes the hits “Mr. Brightside,” “All These Things That I’ve Done,” and “Somebody Told Me.”

According to a report from NME, they also played “Everything Will Be Alright” for the first time since 2005, when they were on the Hot Fuss Tour. They also played “Believe Me Natalie” for the first time in six years, which appears on Hot Fuss but is rarely played. Additionally, The Killers broke out the U.S. Hot Fuss track “Change Your Mind” as well.

After The Killers played Hot Fuss in full, they continued the show with their newest single, “Bright Lights.” This song follows the release of their greatest hits album, Rebel Diamonds, which included the new song “Spirit.” Now, they’ve released a euphoric new track that captures the atmosphere of Las Vegas.

The Killers Kick Off Las Vegas Residency Celebrating 20th Anniversary of Hot Fuss

Brandon Flowers took a moment to address the crowd while he introduced the universally loved “Mr. Brightside” during the show. “As you know, a lot of people come to Vegas to gamble,” he said. “And I’m no exception. I came here from a quiet town in Utah when I was just 16 years old. I had big dreams working as a busboy right here in Caesars Palace.”

Flowers continued, referencing the other members of The Killers. “And I bet my life on three men who I hardly knew,” he said. “Some people come to Vegas and lose everything – that’s just the way it goes. But let tonight serve as a reminder: sometimes it goes the other way too.”

The band also broke out the song “Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll,” which was included as a bonus track on the Hot Fuss vinyl and European versions of the album. “In the early days in Vegas, we were outsiders,” said Flowers when introducing the song. “Somewhere in that desert between our longing to be accepted and the musical snobbery we were experiencing, I reached down and I wrote a sneery, satirical song. But not everybody got it.”

He continued, “Some people heard a joyful song celebrating the spirit of indie rock and roll. And it’s taken me 20 years to realize, they were right. So let’s not argue over semantics – let’s celebrate.”
