Kelsea Ballerini Says This ‘The Voice’ Contestant Has a “God-Given” Talent
At 22 years old, Maple Valley, Washington singer-songwriter Lucia Flores-Wiseman has already shared a stage with Brandi Carlile. Now she is taking her unique blend of indie, folk and jazz to The Voice.
Nodding at her Mexican-American heritage, Flores-Wiseman delivered a captivating rendition of the Spanish-language folk song “La Llorona” by Ángela Aguilar. The baleful tune has its roots in Mexican folklore. La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) is a vengeful ghost who frequents bodies of water.
Incredibly, Flores-Wiseman had only gotten out a few notes before coach Adam Levine smashed the button to turn his big red chair. By the end of the performance, Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend had joined him—and all were on their feet.
“What is your name, you magical human being?” Ballerini asked incredulously.
After receiving her answer, the “Dibs” songstress continued, “That made me weirdly emotional. Did you guys feel that?”

“If it didn’t, you guys don’t have a soul,” Levine jokingly replied.
Continuing, Ballerini said she had “no notes. “I really just want to be along for your ride. I want to be a sounding board when you need it,” the coaching newcomer said. “You have a God-given voice.”
John Legend: “You Really Kicked A–“
Well, Adam Levine isn’t an OG for nothing. “This is my 17th season doing the show, and I just want to fall madly in love with a singer and their voice that I thought was singular and that I had never heard anything like before,” said the Maroon 5 frontman. “And here you are.”
However, John Legend wasn’t going down without a fight. “Listening to you sing that song, it was like Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse were singing in Spanish… This is why we love music so much: because we get to hear people like you kicking the a– of a song,” said the EGOT winner. “You really kicked its a–.”
Unfortunately, Michael Bublé has a trump card, as he began speaking to Flores-Wiseman in Spanish.
Tune in to The Voice on Monday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. Central on NBC to see where Lucia Flores-Wiseman lands.
