How many times does a famous classic rock band have to announce that they are calling it quits before they actually do? It really depends on the band. However, it seems like The Who might actually be coming to the end of their touring career with the announcement of their The Song Is Over Tour. The band, which includes founding members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, has just announced that they will bring their very last tour to North America this summer.

The upcoming tour will be a “truly grand finale” to the band’s (more than) 60-year career, and it’s set to kick off in August.
The Song Is Over Tour will take the duo and their band across 16 different locations in North America, with concerts in Boston, New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more. The
Who will also bring their tour to Canada, with several concerts taking place in Vancouver and Toronto. Several pre-sale events will kick off ahead of the tour, starting on May 13 at 10:00 am through Ticketmaster.
The End of The Who Will Be an Emotional One for Fans
In a recent statement, Roger Daltrey noted that the band has a soft spot for their American fans.
“Every musician’s dream in the early 60’s was to make it big in the US charts” Daltrey said in the statement. “For the Who, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives were changed forever. The warmth of the American audiences over the years have been inspirational to me, and reflect the feeling I remember getting after hearing the first rock records coming across the radio. Musical freedom!”
Likewise, Townshend lamented that the end is near, but that he was looking forward to performing to North American audiences.
“Well, all good things must come to an end,” said Townshend. “It is a poignant time. For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible. The warmth and engagement of those audiences began back in 1967 with hippies smoking dope, sitting on their blankets and listening deeply and intensely. Music was everywhere. We all felt equal.”
