The Doors are one of America’s most celebrated and beloved rock bands. Fronted by Jim Morrison, whose birthday is today Dec. 8 (though he died at 27 years old in 1971), the band also featured legendary keys player Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore. What a lineup!
The band burst onto the scene in 1967 with their debut self-titled LP and followed that with an album the same year, called Strange Days. The band put out its last record, American Prayer, in 1978. (And L.A. Woman is celebrating its 50th anniversary.)
