Watch Garth Brooks Fight Back Tears While Telling Jimmy Kimmel About His Family’s Christmas Traditions

Earlier this month, fans were excited to see Garth Brooks bring a free mini-concert to Jimmy Kimmel Live. Unfortunately, that concert was canceled “for a variety of reasons” just days before it was set to take place. However, the country superstar still made an appearance on the late-night talk show. His conversation with Kimmel gave fans and other viewers a look at how Brooks and Trisha Yearwood celebrate the holidays.

Garth Brooks Gets Emotional Talking About Christmas with His Family

Garth Brooks and his family usually put their Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving. However, they had to do things differently this year because he’ll be spending time away from home to complete his Las Vegas residency. “We’re there the first three weekends [of December] in Vegas. So, we’re up to like two or three days before Christmas Eve. So, Miss Yearwood said, ‘We’re starting Christmas NOW!’ and that was about three weeks ago,” Brooks explained. “She drug the Christmas tree out of the basement, it’s already up. We’re ready to go. We’ve got Christmas music going,” he added.

Kimmel revealed that he enjoys Christmas but his family is “Christmas crazy” and takes it to the extreme. “They want Christmas up at Halloween time,” he said.  Brooks sided with Kimmel’s family.

“I love Christmas. I can’t have enough Christmas. To me, ornaments are cool but they’ve got to have meaning to them,” Brooks said. “We always decorate with the three girls because we’ve done that since we’ve known each other. So, the three girls have three bells and that’s the first thing that has to go on the tree,” he added his voice getting husky with emotion. “I’m gonna start crying, sorry,” he apologized before getting his emotions in check. “That means it’s Christmas and that means it’s time to love one another, drop all this silly sh-t, and just have some fun together.”
