First stepping into the spotlight during the 1970s, Sammy Hagar has more than enough stories about the music industry. Embracing the lifestyle of a rockstar, the singer performed alongside bands like Montrose and the iconic Van Halen. While hitting the road for the Best of All Worlds Tour, the concerts had little to do with Hagar and more to do with the singer honoring Eddie Van Halen, who passed away in October 2020. With the tour running until the end of September, Hager recently traveled to Texas where he entertained fans while battling extreme heat.

While fans know the struggles that come with fighting a heat wave, being on stage brings an entirely different set of problems. Besides the natural climate, bands deal with countless lights beaming down on them. Add that with singers and musicians dancing around the stage – the temperature can become unbearable. But in the video below, Hagar proved that no matter the struggle, the show must go on.
Using a box with the words, “Cool down, Sammy, cool down”, Hagar received some help from his wife, Kari Karte, as he tried to get a break. Helping cool him down with wet towels and ice packs, Hagar takes a moment to gather himself as the band continues to play on stage. Even having to change his shirt, Hagar jumped right back to it as he walked back on stage while telling the camera, “A hundred and fourteen f**king degrees.”

Sammy Hagar Wished Alex Van Halen Reached Out
With six shows left on the tour, Hagar will travel overseas to Japan. Hosting a number of concerts in the region, he will end his time in Japan on September 23rd. And while Hagar enjoyed his time on the road, he discussed how he hoped Alex Van Halen would join them. Having reached out to him several times, Hagar said, “[W]e made every offer to get together or to just talk or to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Go to the studio and play. Come to my house or I’ll come to your house. Go ride horses, go sit on the beach. What do you want to do? Let’s just do something. Let’s get together. And nothing.”
Keeping faith that Alex would join them, Hagar eventually received his answer. “I was saying, ‘He’ll come to a show – he’s got to, in L.A. or something. I’m sure he’ll come.’ But no… he sold all of his equipment. That was his statement. That was like, ‘Nah, I ain’t coming nowhere.’”
