The Grand Ole Opry stage is an iconic part of the culture of country music. The microphone stand is just as recognizable as the hallowed circle where it stands and the ever-present barn background. Over the last 100 years, four microphone stands have adorned the stage. Gill helped unveil the fifth over the weekend. Vince Gill Introduces the New Grand Ole Opry Microphone Stand
Vince Gill introduced the new microphone stand during his Grand Ole Opry performance Saturday (March 1) night. The night also included performances from Charles Wesley Godwin, Bill Anderson, The Oak Ridge Boys, Hon Schlitz, Connie Smith, and Marty Stuart.
The Grand Ole Opry’s executive producer Dan Rogers spoke to The Tennessean about the new addition to the stage. “Like the Opry’s famed Circle center stage and its signature barn backdrop, the show’s familiar microphone stands have been a key part of our iconography for decades,” he said. “This celebration of 100 years is all about celebrating our past and opening wide the doors to the next century of music, and these stands will be a testament to that for as long as they are featured on the Opry stage,” he added.
“Our 2025 plans represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make the Opry more accessible than ever before,” Opryland Entertainment CEO Patrick Moore said. “For decades, people will look back on this year as the one they first discovered or deepened their connection with the show that made country music famous. We’ve packed our calendar with moments so everyone–from casual fans to super fans–can enjoy the magic of the Grand Ole Opry,” he added.
