Jack White Channels Lady Gaga

Jack White may be finicky when it comes to things like technology and record distribution, but he isn’t hung up on musical genres. He’s just as comfortable working with Jay-Z as he is Loretta Lynn.

The White Stripe, Raconteur, and Dead Weather drummer admits to channeling a certain pop sensation while working on the arrangement for “The Difference Between Us” from the Dead Weather’s second album, Sea Of Cowards. White tells WENN how much he enjoyed stepping into Lady Gaga’s shoes.

“I was thinking of the type of song a contemporary musician would write so I started thinking about her,” says White. “I started thinking of how she would write the music to this song and got quite into being Lady Gaga in an odd way.”

Do tell! Sea Of Cowards is due out tomorrow on Third Man Records. Check out a live video of “The Difference Between Us” from the band’s MySpace concert below.

  1. Jack seems smart enough to appreciate mainstrean bubblegum pop, never acting like some of his elitest fans and contemporaries( M.I.A, Joanna Newsom). Gaga is a pop star, and she writes simple, fun music. At least Mr White can appreciate that. His fans need to put away their worn out Pavement albums and put down their lattes. Snobs.
