Dee Posted About His Illness Recently on Instagram
In a message posted January 3 on his Instagram page, Dee discussed his recent health issues.
“This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis),” the 61-year-old drummer wrote. “I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this bastard bacteria. Thankfully, I have received fantastic care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg [Sweden], my hometown. So thanks a million to all the Doctors and Nurses that have been giving me the most excellent care.”

He continued, “After several operations, I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still lots of recovery and rehab in front of me.”
At the time he posted the message, Dee said he hoped to be ready by late February to play the Scorpions’ Vegas residency.
He added, “We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting [gigs] around the world. … So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all out there on the road and rock the hell out of you! I wish everybody a fantastic 2025 with good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!”
Dee joined the Scorpions in 2016, replacing James Kottak. From 1992 to 2015, Mikkey played drums with U.K. heavy-metal legends Motörhead.
The Scorpions’ Other 2025 Performance Plans
The Scorpions’ 60th anniversary tour currently includes more than 20 other confirmed concerts for 2025. The band’s next scheduled show is a March 15 performance at the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City.
That concert will be followed by a seven-date South American tour running from an April 16 show in Brasilia, Brazil, through a May 3 performance in Quito, Ecuador.
The Scorpions then will mount a European trek that’s plotted out from a June 4 gig in Skive, Denmark, through a July 24 concert in Nimes, France.
Tickets for the Scorpions’ concerts are available now via various outlets, including StubHub.
Scorpions’ Other Recent Health Issues
Dee’s illness is the latest health crisis to strike a member of the Scorpions. In March 2024, the band announced that it had to cancel a planned performance at the 2024 edition of the Vive Latino fest because frontman Klaus Meine had recently undergone “complex spine surgery.”
Then, in September of last year, the Scorpions canceled its five scheduled concerts in their home country of Germany after guitarist Matthais Jabs sustained several broken bones in a fall at a rented vacation home.
As Jabs shared in a post on the band’s Instagram page, “I fell down the stairs with 16 steps and broke my left pinky twice and I also broke my left heel.”
