Helping shine a light on garage rock during the early 2000s, Jack White gained the spotlight as part of the White Stripes with his former wife Meg White. Although the group eventually disbanded, the White Stripes released songs like “Seven Nation Army” and “We’re Going to Be Friends.” After the White Stripes, White continued to expand his career, exploring a solo career. He released his latest album No Name just last year. Recently, the singer discussed his time on stage and his thoughts on fans demanding extra-long shows.

For any person who attended a concert in recent years, they definitely noticed the prices of tickets increase. With many having to pay hundreds of dollars to see a single performer, many wanted the money to be worth it. And it seemed that some fans of White wanted the singer to extend his shows.
Jumping on Instagram, White decided to clear the air about his thoughts on long concerts and what he wanted to achieve each time he stepped out on stage. “Been hearing a lot of chatter throughout the year of this glorious electric touring about how long our sets are ‘supposed to be’ on stage. As if the length of a show determines how ‘good’ it is. I know that we’re living in a current era where people like to say ‘so and so played for 3 hours last night!’, and brag about it the next day. I’ll let our fans know now that my mind has no intention of ‘impressing’ y’all in that context.”

Fans Agree With Jack White About The Length Of A Concert
With White not looking to mimic other concerts, he joked about the idea of lasers and t-shirts. “I’m not sure y’all are knowing (or maybe remembering?) what a real rock or punk show is like,” he explained. “I think you’re talking about an arena laser light show with pyro, huge screens with premade videos, singers flying over the crowd, t shirt cannons, etc, that’s not the kind of shows we’re performing. I’ve seen a plethora of rock and roll gigs that lasted 45 minutes and blew my mind and inspired me beyond belief.”
Some fans appeared to agree with White, commenting on the post, “I always get just the amount and quality of music I want and need from you, I always feel happily exhausted at the end!” Another person added, “To see you and the band play 1 live song as far as I am concerned is a tiny little gift to me.”
Not wanting fans to think he was ungrateful or criticizing them, White concluded, “Love to all of our fans, I see your faces every night and you can be assured I’ve never phoned it in in my life.”
