Bryan Adams Cancels Show Due to a Fatberg Clogging The City’s Sewage System

Bryan Adams of Sweeney Todd had to unexpectedly cancel his recent show in Perth, Australia due to an unexpected reason. On Sunday, February 9, Adams planned on playing at Perth’s RAC Arena, however, a fatberg caused Perth’s sewage system to clog which resulted in significant flooding near the venue. Needless to say, a fatberg is likely one of the weirdest reasons for a concert’s cancelation.

For context, a fatberg is a culmination of fat, grease, and rags that typically clog cities’ sewer systems. That being so, that is exactly what happened on February 9, as fans of Adams stood outside the venue for hours waiting for an update. Originally, the show’s delay was due to a leak in the venue’s septic tanks. However, at 9:00 pm, the venue officially announced the show’s postponement.

The Updates & Official Comments About Bryan Adams’ Postponed Show

Following the postponement, Billboard acquired quotes from Frontier Touring, the company in charge of Adams’ So Happy It Hurts tour. They wrote in their statement, “Last night’s concert could not proceed due to an external Perth Water Corporation issue.” “The issue, which impacted all of Wellington Street, meant that it was deemed unsafe for patrons to enter RAC Arena.”

The company also made it very clear that they will automatically refund all tickets in 30 business days. Furthermore, no ticket holders will have to take any action, as Frontier Touring will automatically transfer funds back to the original payment method.

They continued their official statement by saying, “The cancellation of the show is bitterly disappointing, and we thank fans for their understanding that while every effort was made for the show to proceed, this matter was outside of the control of Bryan Adams, Frontier Touring and RAC Arena.”

Bryan Adams has yet to make an official comment on the matter. Adams’ So Happy It Hurts tour will continue as planned with stops in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. As large of an inconvenience this is, the public memory will surely remember the show’s cancellation and the weird reason behind it for years to come.
