Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu hasn’t spoken to the band he co-founded in more than five years. During an interview on the Basement Talk podcast, the bassist revealed how long it’s been since he chatted with former Korn bandmates James “Munky” Shaffer, Brian “Head” Welch, Jonathan Davis, and Ray Luzier.

“I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019,” he said. “We’re just kind of both just doing [our own thing]. They’re truckin’. They’re a machine… It’s insane. It’s dope that they can keep on going like that.”
Arvizu went on to confirm that it’s “all love” between him and his former bandmates, who have shows schedule between May and August this year.
“It’s cool to see that they can keep on going,” he said. “I’m like, ‘I need to chill.’ Just kickin’ it.”
Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu’s Korn Hiatus
Arvizu founded Korn with Shaffer and David Silveria in 1993. The group released 14 albums between 1994 and 2022. Though Arvizu announced a hiatus from Korn in 2021, he did play bass on the nu metal band’s 2022 album, Requiem.
“To all KORN fans worldwide. The past 6 years I’ve been dealing with some personal issues that at times have caused me to fall back on some of my bad habits and has caused some tension with the people around me,” Arvizu wrote on Facebook in June 2021. “It’s been suggested to me to take some time off to heal. I’m going to respect what was asked of me and take that time.”
“Unfortunately you will not see me on stage with my band. I will be working towards getting the bad habits out of my system,” he added. “In the meantime I will be staying creative to keep my mind & soul in a good place. I’m thankful for all of your support, patience & understanding as we all have something that we deal with.”
He added, “Jonathan, Munky, Ray and Head, I love you and I don’t want to bring any tension or bad vibes to the circle.”
Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu Addresses His “Bad Habits”
The following year, Arvizu clarified that his bad habits “weren’t drugs.” He additionally noted that he “never tried” cocaine or heroin.
“I don’t condone this, but when I’m done with all my responsibilities, I have a Bud Light, or as many as I want, to tell you the truth,” he said. “I’m a grown man. But I know that I have to get up at five in the morning, because I’m responsible, and I got a job to do. And I got people that love me and people that depend on me, so I’m gonna be there for them no matter what.”
As for his bandmates, Arvizu had nothing but love.
“I love the guys in Korn. I’ve known them since seventh grade. We have no beef. I’ve got no problem with those guys. You guys should support them,” he said. “… I’m always gonna be Fieldy from Korn for the rest of my life because that’s part of my legacy. Those are my homies, those are my brothers. We’re just in different places right now. We’re not even mad at each other.”
Arvizu said he was doing well too, noting, “Things are great, I’m having a blast. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life.”
