Bachman-Turner Overdrive singer/guitarist Randy Bachman relaunched the veteran Canadian rock band with a new lineup in 2023, and now the group is set to release its first new single in almost 30 years. The song, titled “60 Years Ago,” is due out on March 28.

The tune features a guest guitar solo by Bachman’s longtime friend, fellow Canadian rock legend Neil Young. In addition, founding BTO singer/bassist Fred Turner, who retired from touring in 2018, contributed vocals to the track.
“This song is our tribute to Winnipeg [Canada,] the place where we grew up as teenagers in the ’60s, a time when the city’s music scene was exploding,” Bachman explained in a statement. “It was the Liverpool of North America, a melting pot of incredible talents. Everyone I’ve talked to who spent time in Winnipeg and witnessed that musical explosion is excited to hear this song, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
Proceeds raised by sales of the single will benefit the Bridge to Nowhere charity ride, which seeks to end chronic homelessness in the Winnipeg area. This year’s event is scheduled for June 7.
You can pre-save the track now.
Among the other musicians who contributed to “60 Years Ago” are two other current members of BTO—Tal Bachman, Randy’s son, and Tal’s wife, KoKo Bachman.
