Pete Best is best known for being the original drummer of The Beatles. After the drummer was swapped from the group for Ringo Starr, he went on to have a fruitful personal career. After Best departed from The Beatles in 1962, he went on to play with the bands The Beat Brothers and Lee Curtis and the All-Stars. Also, recently, Best bought the famous Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool, England, and eventually turned it into a Beatles-themed Airbnb. Best also regularly played and toured with his bands, The Pete Best Combo and The Pete Best Band.

Pete Best is now officially retired from music. However, neither his brother nor any other members of his family acknowledged what he planned to do next.

Pete Best’s Brother Makes Official Announcement

In the official retirement statement, Roag Best wrote, “Well what an absolutely wonderful ride we’ve had. However, everything comes to pass. My brother Pete Best has announced today he is retiring from personal appearances and performing with the group. His daughter has informed me it’s due to personal circumstances,” per X

Shortly after the post, Best also took to X to acknowledge the post and thank his fans. He simply wrote in his post, “I had a blast. Thank you.” Even though Pete Best wasn’t a part of The Beatles at their height, he still helped them get off the ground in the early years. Between 1960 and 1962, he gigged extensively with the group during their formative years in Hambury, Germany.

Concerning his exit from The Beatles, Best didn’t have any anger to seemingly harbor, as he went on to have an independent career. In an interview with the Irish Times, Best stated, “I think if I’d kept reflecting about what happened yesterday, all the time, and it was like a nightmare to me, I would have ended up bitter and twisted.” “But there came a period in my life when I was like, to hell with what happened yesterday, it’s about today and tomorrow,” concluded Best.
