Season 22 Winner Bryce Leatherwood Returns to ‘The Voice’ To Perform “God Made” During Season 27 Finale

With $100,000 and a record deal on the line, the Top 5 finalist on season 27 of The Voice could do nothing more than wait to see if their name was called. Throughout the competition, Jadyn Cree, Renzo, Adam David, Jaelen Johnston, and Lucia Flores-Wiseman proved their talents and why they deserved a spot in the season finale. But at the end of the day, the decision rested in the hands of the viewers. And wanting to show what could happen if they ended up winning, The Voice welcomed back season 22 winner, Bryce Leatherwood, for a special performance from his debut album.

For fans of The Voice, they knew exactly who Leatherwood was. Competing during season 22, the country singer found himself on the team coached by Blake Shelton. Having forged his own massive career in country music, Shelton and Leatherwood found common ground as the contestant grew up listening to George Jones and Conway Twitty. Their teamwork helped Leatherwood clinch the competition and bring Shelton his ninth win.

Returning to the stage, Leatherwood decided to perform his newest song “God Made”, which accompanied his recent self-titled album. While the Top 5 battled through the playoffs, the country singer released his debut album on May 16th. And with Shelton also coming back to perform, it seemed like old times for the two singers.

Bryce Leatherwood Recalls What ‘The Voice’ Taught Him

While still expanding her career in country music, Leatherwood recently opened up about the last few years. Looking back on his time on The Voice and the opportunities it presented to him, the singer insisted it all started with a YouTube video. “I was like, ‘It’s either going to be landscaping, or I’m going to try to chase this dream somehow. So I literally sent in a YouTube video [to The Voice], and one shot in the dark changed my life.”

With Leatherwood using his time on The Voice as a teachable moment, he admitted the show helped boost his confidence. “The reality is, with a show like that, you’re just in front of 7 million people a night, it’s pretty wild. So you build up pretty thick skin doing that. I think what it taught me the most is just, you know, I can do it on any stage…No matter how big, I can do it. And it was definitely a confidence boost.”
