With Laws shot and killed, Miller took a moment to honor the legacy surrounding the drummer, who also operated as the band leader. A true inspiration to Miller as he navigated his career in country music, the singer posted a collage of pictures of them together over the years. My grandad once told me that you’ll have lots of friends in your life, but finding a try friend is something that is rare and special.”

The Incident That Left Alex Miller Without A Drummer

Never forgetting the advice and friendship Laws shared with Miller, the singer concluded his posting, asking for prayer. “My grandad was a true friend, and so was Mark Laws. His loss to me is devastating. Please pray for his family for me.”

Fans of Miller quickly filled the comment section with love and support. “At this time, words don’t bring much comfort. Praying God will give you peace and comfort you as only He can.” One person added, “So sorry to hear this Alex. Thoughts and prayers for you, the band and his family and friends. God Bless.”

According to reports from Claiborne County Sheriff Bob Brooks, the incident happened when Laws’ stepson, 25-year-old Maxwell Madon, got into a heated argument with his grandparents. The argument escalated when he assaulted his grandfather. Traveling to the house to help calm the situation, Laws was shot and killed by Madon.

Arrested and charged with criminal homicide, Madon was taken into custody after being treated at a nearby hospital. Apparently, he shot himself in the hand during the incident which left the music industry mourning the death of Laws. Throughout his career, Laws performed not just with Miller but Pam Perry, Little Kimmy Dickens, and several others.
