Catie Turner rose to fame in 2018 when she appeared on American Idol season 16. Turner’s powerful voice and stage presence helped push her to the finals. Her career didn’t end with that season of Idol, though. Instead, she continued to write, record, and release music. The intervening years have seen Turner release several singles and Eps with her most recent dropping in December 2024.

Turner has also maintained a large and involved social media following. On her birthday (February 14), she shared several photos of her day with her fans and followers. However, what started as a celebratory post became a barrage of questions and concerns. In the photos, Turner is thinner than she was during her Idol run. This left some fans wondering if she was battling an eating disorder or substance use. A week later, she posted a video addressing those concerns.

American Idol Alum Catie Turner Addresses Fans’ Concerns
“Genuinely thank u so much for ur concern I am peachy KEEN I am OK,” Catie Turner wrote in the post’s caption. “I started this week feeling violated and I’m ending it feeling sort of famous. It’s all about perspective,” she added.
“I want you to walk with me,” Turner began in the video. “I want you to imagine a world where it is your birthday and you post a picture. You say, ’Hey, it’s my birthday!’ and I don’t take f**king photos of myself and they use the .5 angle. I love my little shirt and my little top and I think I am eating. And everyone goes ‘You are not eating! You are not! And we are scared!,” she said.
Some of Turner’s fans were concerned that she was using Ozempic or illicit stimulants. She addressed those concerns saying that she wasn’t using either.
While frustrated by the comments, Turner said she understands why people would be concerned. “I publicly struggled with eating in the past,” she said. “I don’t look the same as I did seven years ago when I was severely depressed. Hey guys, have we considered that seven years ago I had a binge eating disorder?” she added.
“Please don’t comment on my body,” he asked her followers.
