Monday night’s episode marked the first live show of the season. It followed a faith-themed episode on Easter Sunday, which saw four people go home.
Kyana Fanene, MKY, Penny Samar, and Grayson Torrence were all sent packing on Sunday night. Fans seemed most shocked by MKY’s elimination. Following his surprise exit, MKY spoke out on Instagram.
“I’ll forever cherish these moments, memories & friends I’ve made on this journey and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to sing and represent LOS ÁNGELES on the national stage,” he wrote. “Although my journey is now official over on @americanidol I’d like to welcome and embrace all the new love and supporters I’ve gained recently! Be ready because this is just the beginning.”
Then, on Monday’s episode, Isaiah Misailegalu, Drew Ryn, Olivier Bergeron, Josh King, Ché, Baylee Littrell, Desmond Roberts, Zaylie Windsor, Victor Solomon, and Amanda Barise found themselves in the Danger Zone.
The contestants were forced to perform for the judges to try to earn a spot in the Top 14 with one of the judges’ four picks. Desmond Roberts, Josh King, Ché, and Amanda Barise were successful in their efforts, moving through along with the season’s 10 other hopefuls.
