Attorney for Conner Smith Issues Statement After Country Singer Struck and Killed Elderly Woman With His Truck

With Nashville hosting the 2025 CMA Fest, the last four days featured countless singers taking over the city to celebrate country music. And given the amazing lineup of talent, thousands of people traveled to the home of country music to be part of the massive celebration. But on the final day, tragedy struck when country singer Conner Smith was driving his Chevrolet Silverado down the road and struck 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins. Sadly, due to her injuries, Dobbins passed away not long after. With the country singer dealing with the tragedy, his attorney released a statement about the incident.

Walking down the streets of Nashville, the accident happened when Dobbins went to cross the road with her dog. Coming from the dog park, Dobbins soaked in her surroundings as she crossed the road. Following the laws of the road, the elderly woman found the nearest crosswalk to continue her walk. At the same time, Smith failed to yield to the pedestrian. Not able to stop in time, Smith hit the woman. 

No Charges Brought Against Conner Smith At This Time

Not speaking with the press about the incident, the attorney for Smith released a statement, explaining how the singer was fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continued their investigation. “On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”

For those wondering, at the time of the accident, Smith was not under the influence of alcohol or any sort of drug. And given that many drivers tend to look at their phones while on the road, a source revealed the singer wasn’t even looking at his phone. A statement read, “The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. He showed no signs of impairment.”

Although the investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed against Smith at this time. As for Smith, he remained completely silent over the incident.
