Axl Rose Shares Heartfelt Post About Meeting Ozzy Osbourne For the First Time at Black Sabbath’s Final Show

Over the weekend, some of the biggest bands in heavy metal history gathered in Birmingham, England, for Back to the Beginning. The event celebrated the legacies of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. It was also the final time Osbourne performed live and the end of the original Sabbath lineup. Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Tool, and many other bands and musicians took the stage to pay tribute to the godfathers of metal. Those musicians were also able to meet the legends backstage.

Axl Rose was among the musicians who got to meet the metal legends backstage. After the event ended, Rose took to social media to praise Osbourne and share how excited he was to finally get to meet Osbourne and the rest of Black Sabbath.

Axl Rose Praises Ozzy Osbourne After Guns N’ Roses’ Set at Black Sabbath Reunion Show

Guns N’ Roses took the stage for a six-song set, playing four Black Sabbath covers and a pair of GNR classics for the massive crowd. They performed “It’s Alright,” “Never Say Die,” “Junior’s Eyes,” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” in honor of Sabbath. Then, they closed the set with “November Rain” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” After the show, Axl Rose was able to go backstage and meet Ozzy Osbourne.

“Wow!! What an EVENT,” Rose wrote in the post. “Extremely overwhelming!! Really great crowd!! Was very emotional for everyone!! MET OZZY!! (Crazy we’d never met [before],” he added. “He was really great. It was great to meet Sabbath,” he added.

“Was hard as I imagine it was for anyone to watch his struggles while, at the same time, everyone was rooting for him and massively respecting the challenges he took head on and HE DID IT!!!!” Rose wrote about Ozzy’s performance.

“Was great to meet Ozzy’s family and see friends and peeps in all the bands in the business,” Rose added. “A HUGE THANK YOU again to Ozzy, Sharon, Black Sabbath, and all the fans for having us,” he concluded.
