Billy Strings is set to release his new album Highway Prayers later this month. It will be his first release since his 2022 collaboration Me/And/Dad and his first solo outing since Renewal in 2021. So far, Strings has shared two official singles from the forthcoming collection—“Leadfoot” and “Stratosphere Blues/I Believe in You.” However, it seems that he’s not content with just sharing singles.

Recently, as the release of Highway Prayers gets ever closer, Strings has been sharing snippets of songs from the new album on social media. The trend started yesterday (September 17) when he shared “In the Clear” which is the second track on the album.
Some fans were taken aback by the most recent single, “Stratosphere Blues/I Believe in You.” It was a sonic departure for the bluegrass ambassador. Instead of the breakneck flatpicking that Strings has gained a reputation for, it was a psychedelic trip into another galaxy. “In the Clear,” on the other hand, seems to be a return to form for Strings and the band. It sounds like it would have been a comfortable fit for his Grammy-winning album Home.
Earlier today (September 18), Strings shared the third track from Highway Prayers titled “Escanaba.” Named for a small city in his home state of Michigan, the song features some incredible musicianship from Strings and the rest of his band. The clip he shared on social media doesn’t feature any singing. So, it may be an instrumental track which will be a welcome surprise for many longtime fans.
Billy Strings Prepares for Highway Prayers
If he continues on this trend, Billy Strings will share snippets from ten songs on the album. Even with the two previously released singles, Highway Prayers will still hold plenty of mystery for fans on release day. All told he will have shared clips from ten songs and two singles. That still leaves eight songs that most fans will not have heard when the album drops on September 27. See the full tracklist below.
