The official video for “St. Charles Square,” which clocks in at 3 minutes and 55 minutes, appears to be a standard live concert video, but every so often, strange editing tricks create a blurring effect. The video also contains intense close-up shots of the band members masterfully playing their instruments, which show just how talented the band truly is.

Many fans of Blur rushed to the YouTube comments section to share their love for the band. One YouTuber wrote, “I think Blur are one of the only bands in rock history I can think of who have actually improved as they have aged. I never cared for them in their early years then Beetlebum came out and that was undeniable good and since then they have just gotten better and better. This is brilliant. The more scruffy shambolic and mischievous they get the better in my view.” Another commented, “This band is one of the absolute best things to ever happen to me, BLUR FOREVER.”

Blur frontman Damon Albarn recently released a press statement regarding the upcoming record. Albarn called The Ballad of Darren “an aftershock record, reflection and comment on where we find ourselves now.”

During an interview with Apple Music 1, Albarn also discussed how much of a treat it was to get the band back together and combine all their sounds. He said, “A lot of the time, I just do it on my own really. The reward of everyone playing together is one I do acknowledge as being maybe the greatest.

“You’ve got to keep it real. I’ve been playing with them since I was a kid,” Albarn continued. “So to be able to chart that ridiculous journey from being teenagers to being five years off 60 is quite… it’s a little bit odd but wonderful at the same time. It’s wonderful.”

Blur released their comeback album, The Magic Whip, in 2015, and have been fairly active since. The band will be playing several concerts at Wembley Stadium in July before performing sets at various festivals across the world.
