The new release will expand on their critically acclaimed album and will feature production credits by Boygenius, Tony Berg, Jake Finch, Ethan Gruska, Calvin Lauder, Collin Pastore, and Marshall Vore.

The band is currently on tour and is set to play shows in in New Haven, Philadelphia, and New York City and will wrap up in Los Angeles on October 31. Their show in Los Angeles is marked as a special Halloween event. Special guests for the occasions are Palehound, Samia, and MUNA. The Halloween show has collaborators like Sloppy Jane and 100 gecs on the bill as well.

The trio recently released a music video for their song “Cool About It,” the fifth song on The Record.

In a press statement obtained by Pitchfork, the video’s director Lauren Tsai said, “‘Cool About It’ is a beautifully melancholic and piercing song that puts words to feelings often unexplained. It is an absolute dream to collaborate with the genius that is Boygenius.”

During a recent interview with NPR, group member Dacus opened up about her friendship with Bridgers and Baker. She said, “Friendship is something that I think about a lot. My life is defined by my friends. I feel like there’s maybe some good media about friendships, but not a ton. Romance also has typical touchstones, whereas every friendship is so unique.”

Dacus continued, “I kind of feel like there’s even more there to play with. So why aren’t people doing it? It doesn’t feel like a hack subject. The way that I’ve been writing a lot of love songs recently and I feel myself being like, this is overplayed or this isn’t profound in the slightest, but I can pick any one of my friends and write something that is just completely unique to them.”
