Brian May’s “Love of My Life” Tribute to Freddie Mercury Still Leaves Me Heartbroken to This Day

Looking back at the legacy of the hit rock band Queen, the group dominated the music industry with songs like “We Will Rock You” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Selling around 300 million albums, Queen landed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001. Just a few years later, the original four members were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. While the band’s music continues to entertain fans all over the world, back in 2022, Brian May took the stage in Glasgow to perform “Love of My Life.” And wanting to honor Freddie Mercury, the musician found himself right beside him once again.

Given the surge in technology over the last few years, productions are able to create some truly spectacular achievements. One of those achievements came when May started to play “Love of My Life.” With fans roaring in excitement, May simply played the song on his guitar. It wasn’t until the screens started to show Mercury that the performance shined.

Brian May Protective Over The Legacy Of Queen

Although two years ago, the video of the heartfelt performance continues to make its rounds on social media. Looking at the comments, fans wrote, “We all deserve a loyal friend who keeps us alive even after we pass on. I love that Brian keeps Freddie alive and gives everyone the experience of feeling like they’re at a live concert with Freddie. It’s such a lovely thing to do and truly warms your heart.” Another person added, “Wow, so beautiful.  So heart touching. I got tears in my eyes.  I wish Queen and  Adam Lambert  so much health,  that  they can stay  on stage  as long as they want!”

While Queen continued on without Mercury, May always made sure to keep his legacy front and center. When speaking about the band’s history and image, the musician insisted, “The passion is still there. We still get angry if things aren’t right, and it’s still fun. We recently sold our wares to Sony, of course, so we’re clearly not doing this for the money. When I pop off from this planet, I would like to know that I’ve done my best on anything that I ever touched.”
