Celine Dion Shares Behind-the-Scenes Footage of Her Triumphant 2024 Paris Olympic Performance

With the 2024 Summer Olympic Games hosted in Paris, the organizers wanted to make the opening ceremony memorable. And given that Paris is home to the Eiffel Tower, the setting seemed perfect as Celine Dion looked to make her return to the stage. Although known as the Queen of the Power Ballads, Dion stepped away from the spotlight as she suffered from Stiff Person Syndrome. But not letting the illness stop her from sharing her voice, the hitmaker created yet another iconic moment in music. With fans gushing over the performance, Dion recently shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the special night.

Standing under the Eiffel Tower, Dion proved yet again why she is a top talent in the music industry. With rain pouring and her health in limbo, the singer courageously stood in front of millions to give a powerful performance of “Hymne A L’Amour” by French singer Édith Piaf. Wanting to give fans a glimpse at what it takes to put on such a performance, Dion posted a video showing how much work went into the night.

While the video showed the hours of preparation, the end of the video revealed a special moment between her and her son  René-Charles. Walking to the stage, the singer celebrated her return with her team. But near the end, her oldest son waited on her. Visibly emotional by the moment, the two embraced before Dion created history.

Celine Dion Not Letting Her Children Lose Another Parent

Not only loving the performance, but fans filled the comments with love and support for Dion. “A true icon who has shown us time and time again to never give up on those dreams!” Another person wrote, “Rest if you need to. Sing when possible. Enjoy your life. Enjoy your children. Don’t worry about show marathons. It’s done. Your legacy is eternal. Brazil is rooting for you.”

As for her condition, she spoke to People about how her children helped her fight back. “I barely could walk at one point, and I was missing very much living. My kids started to notice. I was like, ‘OK, they already lost a parent. I don’t want them to be scared.’” She continued, “I let them know, ‘You lost your dad, [but] mom has a condition and it’s different. I’m not going to die. It’s something that I’m going to learn to live with.”
