Navigating their way through the music industry, The War and Treaty, comprised of Michael and Tanya Trotter, spent the last decades collaborating with stars like Zach Bryan on “Hey Driver” and even releasing their hit song “Five More Minutes.” Back in 2023, the group became the first black duo nominated for the Country Music Association Awards for Duo of the Year. They also released their album Lover’s Game that same year. Continuing to expand their stardom and grasp of country music, The War and Treaty surprisingly canceled a performance due to a mysterious family emergency.

Although not that shocking that The War and Treaty needed to cancel the show, the group has refrained from sharing details surrounding their decision. Countless singers and bands canceled their shows over the years due to sickness or a death in the family. For The War and Treaty, they were scheduled to perform and present at The Academy of Country Music and BMI Nashville on Thursday.

While looking forward to The War and Treaty performing, the Academy of Country Music broke the news about the canceled performance, writing on Twitter, “Due to a family emergency, The War and Treaty event tonight is postponed. We will announce a new date at a future time. Please keep Michael and Tanya in your thoughts as they navigate this difficult time.”
The War And Treaty Thank Fans For Their Support
Wanting to elaborate on their decision, The War and Treaty posted the news on their Instagram Stories. “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please know this is not something we take lightly — your love, energy and support mean everything to us, and we were so looking forward to sharing this night with you. We appreciate your understanding, prayers and well wishes during this time. We promise to make it up to you as soon as we can. With love and gratitude Tanya & Michael.”
While The War and Treaty focused on their family at the time, the duo promised to make it up to their fans who hoped to watch them perform. But for now, the group stayed silent as they have yet to update fans as to why they needed to cancel the performance.
