Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition for countless families across the country. Every year, the parade delivers memorable floats and balloons. For many, though, the live musical performances are the highlights of the event. Today, families across the nation got to watch husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty perform “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on the Deck the Halls Float.

The duo weathered technical difficulties, forcing hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker to vamp through their original performance slot. However, after a commercial break, they proved that good things come to those who wait.
Tanya Trotter and Michael Trotter Jr. formed their duo a decade ago. However, it took them years to find traction. More recently, they’ve graced the stages of the CMA Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, the Grand Ole Opry, and more. Today, they took their act to the streets of New York City and introduced the entire nation to their sound with SONG NAME.
The War and Treaty Bring Christmas Magic to the Thanksgiving Day Parade
We may be hours away from sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner but the War and Treaty and many others on Macy’s iconic parade route are already thinking about Christmas. This year, the duo teamed with Balsam Hill to bring the magic of Christmas to the event a month early.
Balsam Hill makes top-tier artificial Christmas trees all but those with the sharpest eyes would believe were real. One of Balsam Hill’s Vermont White Spruce trees adorned the float on which the duo rode. That’s just the beginning of the meticulous decoration that went into the float.
The Deck the Halls float features almost a mile of garland and several miles of twinkling Christmas lights. Additionally, the three-story display’s centerpiece was a fully functional carousel. Other adornments on the float included several smaller Christmas trees and a European-inspired Christmas pyramid.
More From the Husband and Wife Duo
Those who heard the War and Treaty for the first time while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and want to hear more are in luck. They released a rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear” earlier this month. Additionally, they have four full-length albums under their belts. Their debut album Down to the River dropped in 2017. The next year, they released Healing Tide. 2020 saw the release of Hearts Town. The duo’s most recent—and likely best—album, Lover’s Game dropped last year.
