Courtney Love Applies for UK Citizenship: “Can’t Get Rid of Me”

Like a few other celebrities at the moment, it looks like Hole’s famed frontwoman has officially ditched the United States. Courtney Love has applied for UK citizenship, per a recent March 4 interview with Todd Almond at the Geographical Society in London.

For reference, Love has lived in London, England since around 2019. In the past, she noted that she enjoyed the privacy laws in the country and opted to stay long-term shortly after arriving. However, Love has criticized the Trump Administration on numerous occasions, and that could possibly be one other reason why she has opted to apply for British citizenship.

“In terms of Trump, and particularly this group… it’s like emperor-core,” Love said in the interview. ” [They’re] wearing million-dollar watches. Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”

“I’m really glad I’m here,” Love continued. “It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen. I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me.”

Love also once said that she knew she was “going to end up there” in England as early as 2017.

“I know what neighborhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames,” Love went on to say. “I subscribe to this magazine called ‘Country Life’, which is just real-estate p*rn and fox hunting. It’s amazing.”

Courtney Love Isn’t the Only Celeb To Opt for UK Citizenship or a Move Abroad Recently

Quite a few celebrities in recent months have revealed that they have moved abroad from the United States or plan to, following the 2024 election.

Rosie O’Donnell is one star who made the move to Ireland after the recent presidential election. Actress Barbra Streisand once said that she “can’t live in this country” if Trump won the 2024 election and would be moving, as did singer Cher and actress Sharon Stone.

Courtney Love is currently working on a new solo record with Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Will Sergeant of Echo & The Bunnymen. She has not revealed any additional details on the album as of this posting. Stay tuned for updates!
