Dead Daisies/Ex-Whitesnake Guitarist Doug Aldrich Shares Health Update Following Throat Cancer Surgery

On Wednesday, September 25, star-studded hard-rock group The Dead Daisies shared the disconcerting news that guitarist Doug Aldrich had been diagnosed with โ€œtreatable throat cancerโ€ and would be undergoing surgery in the coming week. Now, Aldrich has posted a message on his social media pages updating fans on his health following the operation.

The 61-year-old rockerโ€™s message, which was posted on Sunday, September 29, is accompanied by a photo of him smiling in a hospital bed. A bandage is visible on the right side of his neck.

Aldrich began his note by telling fans, โ€œHi guys, just wanted to reach out and say thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes. It really helped more than I can say.โ€

He continued, โ€œI got surgery on my neck and tonsil and surgery was very successful. The Doctor is a Superstar and team here is amazingโ€ฆI feel good and hopefully get to go home today to my family.โ€

The guitarist concluded by saying, โ€œAm so grateful for you guys โ€ฆ Thank you so much.โ€ The message also includes fingers-crossed and prayer-hands emojis.

In The Dead Daisiesโ€™ announcement regarding Aldrichโ€™s cancer diagnosis, the band also revealed that he wouldnโ€™t be available for the groupโ€™s upcoming European tour. In his place, Dougโ€™s former Whitesnake bandmate Reb Beach will be playing guitar with The Dead Daisies on the trek.

Beach has been a member of Whitesnake since 2003, and Aldrich played with the famous band from 2003 to 2014.

The Dead Daisies concluded their message by asking fans, โ€œPlease join us in wishing Doug all the best for a speedy recovery.โ€ The band added, โ€œWe look forward to having him back on deck really soon.โ€

More About Aldrich and The Dead Daisies

The Dead Daisies were co-founded in 2012 by current rhythm guitarist David Lowy, and have featured a rotating lineup of musicians who have played with various well-known rock acts. Aldrich joined the band in 2016. The group also currently featured former Mรถtley Crรผe singer John Corabi, ex-Whitesnake bassist Michael Devin, and Ozzy Osbourne drummer Tommy Clufetos.

Aldrich also has played with a variety of other bands, including Dio, Lion, Burning Rain, and Revolution Saints.

The Dead Daisiesโ€™ Upcoming Tour Plans

The Dead Daisiesโ€™ fall European tour features 13 shows. It kicks off November 1 in Enschede, Netherlands, and is mapped out through a November 17 concert in Frankfurt, Germany.

The tour is supporting the bandโ€™s latest studio album, Light โ€™Em Up, which was released on September 6.
