On Wednesday, September 25, star-studded hard-rock group The Dead Daisies shared the disconcerting news that guitarist Doug Aldrich had been diagnosed with โtreatable throat cancerโ and would be undergoing surgery in the coming week. Now, Aldrich has posted a message on his social media pages updating fans on his health following the operation.
The 61-year-old rockerโs message, which was posted on Sunday, September 29, is accompanied by a photo of him smiling in a hospital bed. A bandage is visible on the right side of his neck.

Aldrich began his note by telling fans, โHi guys, just wanted to reach out and say thank you so much for the prayers and well wishes. It really helped more than I can say.โ
He continued, โI got surgery on my neck and tonsil and surgery was very successful. The Doctor is a Superstar and team here is amazingโฆI feel good and hopefully get to go home today to my family.โ
The guitarist concluded by saying, โAm so grateful for you guys โฆ Thank you so much.โ The message also includes fingers-crossed and prayer-hands emojis.

In The Dead Daisiesโ announcement regarding Aldrichโs cancer diagnosis, the band also revealed that he wouldnโt be available for the groupโs upcoming European tour. In his place, Dougโs former Whitesnake bandmate Reb Beach will be playing guitar with The Dead Daisies on the trek.
Beach has been a member of Whitesnake since 2003, and Aldrich played with the famous band from 2003 to 2014.

The Dead Daisies were co-founded in 2012 by current rhythm guitarist David Lowy, and have featured a rotating lineup of musicians who have played with various well-known rock acts. The Dead Daisiesโ fall European tour features 13 shows. It kicks off November 1 in Enschede, Netherlands, and is mapped out through a November 17 concert in Frankfurt, Germany.
