About The Doors’ History with the Whisky a Go Go

The Whisky a Go Go is located in West Hollywood, California, adjacent to Los Angles. The Doors served as the house band at the venue from March to August 1966.

During that time, the group developed many of its songs and experimented with its sound. The Doors also opened for many other famous artists during those months, including the Buffalo Springfield, The Turtles, Love, and Them (featuring Van Morrison).

More About The Doors’ 60th Anniversary Celebrations

Besides Krieger’s series of special Whisky a Go Go shows, The Doors’ 60th anniversary will be commemorated with an expansive new book titled Night Divides the Day: The Doors Anthology.

A limited-edition “Collector” version of the book, hand-signed by Krieger and Doors drummer John Densmore, can be pre-ordered from GenesisPublications.com. It’s scheduled to ship in April.

Sourced from The Doors’ archives, Night Divides the Day features a bevy of photos, images of memorabilia, and interviews with the band members. The book also includes new conversations with Krieger and Densmore.

In addition, Night Divides the Day features a foreword written by Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and an afterword by L.A. Philharmonic conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

The limited-edition box-set version comes packaged with a 7-inch vinyl disc featuring rare demos of “Hello, I Love You” and “Moonlight Drive,” mixed by longtime Doors studio engineer Bruce Botnick.
