Earlier this week, Guns N’ Roses officially announced that it had amicably parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Ferrer. Joining the Los Angeles hard rock outfit in 2006, Ferrer was GNR’s longest-running percussionist since its inception in 1985. Now, the 58-year-old musician has taken to social media to speak on his departure.

Frank Ferrer Speaks Out About “Incredible” 19 Years With Guns N’ Roses
Just hours after Guns’ N Roses tapped AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter to replace Frank Ferrer, the New York-born musician issued a statement on his own Instagram page.
Thanking fans for the “tremendous outpouring of love,” Ferrer also expressed “immense gratitude” for lead singer Axl Rose and the rest of his former bandmates. At the same time, he admitted to feeling disappointed at seeing the chapter come to an end.
“It has been an incredible 19 years,” Ferrer wrote Thursday (March 20.) “Guns N’ Roses has given me life-changing memories and experiences.”
He concluded by thanking management, the crew and fans for “giving me memories that I will cherish for my lifetime.”
Signing off, Ferrer wrote, “I hope I see you all again soon!”

In July 2006, Ferrer stepped in during the band’s European Tour when drummer Bryan “Brain” Mantia left to care for his newborn child. What started as a temporary stint turned into a nearly two-decade gig, the longest of any Guns N’ Roses drummer ever. Additionally, Ferrer is a former member of British post-punk band The Psychedelic Furs and its offshoot, Love Spit Love.
Isaac Carpenter Is Coming Aboard
Guns N’ Roses announced Frank Ferrer’s departure on Wednesday (March 19), thanking him for his “friendship, creativity and sturdy presence over the last 19 years.”
The next day, the “Welcome to the Jungle” hitmakers revealed that they had tapped Isaac Carpenter to take Ferrer’s spot.
Carpenter, 45, has played drums for L.A. alt-rock outfit AWOLNATION since 2014. His new gig reunites the Washington-born artist with Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan. The two previously played together in the Seattle hard rock band Loaded.
